Hi.
Does anyone know if it's possible to make that film end effect, where the footage of film actually begins to end, starts getting shaky and then goes into a white screen? I wanna shoot a short sequence in super 8, and I would like to have it end like that, either through manually making it end like that or through any special effect means of doing it through Final Cut Pro, although I get the feeling that my first option would be my best bet.
If I was to just project the super 8 film and let the reel end, would that work? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

That's actually sometimes not really an "effect" it's just a rollout on the actual take.

Usually you can find these nuggets in the telecine. (the transfer from film to video)

There might be an effect that will do something similar - but it will rarely be as good as the real thing.

Actually I wanna shoot something in super 8 and have it end that way, either by manually doing it when recording the projection, or by adding it as an effect later. Thanks though.

I think your best bet would be to just do it manually. That would be a lot simpler and would take a shorter amount of time.

that roll out effect is just what happens when you let the film unspool itself completely, you're going to get it no matter what at the end of your 8mm roll because at the end the chemicals will not solidify the emulsion that didn't get exposed, plus the normal scratching that happens at the beginning/end of the roll.

all you have to do is, if you're projecting it, let the 8mm unspool itself.

if you're telecining it, just let it unspool itself on the machineand it'll show up on the video. the thing is that in telecine you can probably get the sprocket holes to show up, so you can get that look that happens in some Bug Bunny cartoons, where the sprockets start swaying back and forth and then the film disappears.
