Hi everyone, first up thanks to everyone whos helped me out on this forum over the last month or so, I've really learned alot.

right click and save as

In the film two characters walk through the doors of a very high skyscraper. The camera then pans up to reveal how high it reaches.

I've keyed the whole thing apart from the floor. I used normal room lighting and at night which is why the keying isnt that great. I also used an old green screen which, in all honesty is past its sell by date.

I've tinted the overal colour to make it appear yellow/orange just to give it that "different" appeal. In the film I'll need many shots of the building, one from the roof, a front view and a skyline view. I'll be building the model very soon, so any tips would be helpful.

Overal its just a mock up of what I hope the scene will look like, let me know what u think and how u think I can improve it, thanks ;D

So, I'm not entirely sure what kind of feedback you're looking for. The mockup is VERY rough. Like, the moon moves unnaturally. The door disappears. that kind of stuff will need to be drastically improved.

But, you are on to something. Might I inquire what app you're doing this in? My guess is you are key framing each element individually. This is very difficult and can yield poor results. If you have access to after effects, or a compositor or 3d app where you can do 3d camera moves, it'll be a lot easier with generally better results.

So, you've got 3 main elements, right? The green screened people, the model skyscraper, and the background plate, right? To sell the effect, you may also want to put in foreground elements that will paralax as the camera moves. Then, ideally, you'd put all the elements together in 3d space and never move them. Just control a camera to do the pan/crane up to the top of the skyscraper.

interesting clip, maybe it's the compression, but the animated part looks really bad. Is that a table leg btw?

joren:
Thanks for the info.
The door vanishing wont happen on the day, I just added it here to give u guys a better idea of what that stand in cartoon guy was doing LOL.

I'm using Premiere Pro 1.5 and yes I do have access to After Effects but I've never used it. Yeah thats right, three main elements.

1: The green-screened tower,
2: The green-screen people,
3: and the backing plate.

Yeah I've been taking out all the shadows the green key missed with layers upon layers of green images. Then I do a render and then I re-key that for the final image. I've also used 16-point garbage matts to get rid of the really tricky stuff.

Wen u say 3d camera moves, to u mean a program that can re-create the camera move? And of so in what way can it improve upon the key frame methord? I'm pretty new to all this keying so I really need alot of experiance and advice, hence this test LOL

Trespasser:
The tower is actualy the top of the banistar for my flat staires - I placed a few green screens around it and pinned one up behind to make it "look" as if it was on its own. The animated character was just a stand in for actual actors LOL

How will it improve over the key frame method? HA! Well, you won't have problems with your moon dancing around the screen like it is now. or the green screen door moving on the sky scraper. And you can easily set it up so the paralax to the background as you move up the sky scraper is natural. And the only thing you'll have to keyframe is your camera. And, even as a beginner, you'll get faster results than spending hours tweaking keyframes to make everything look natural.

This would be a great project to teach yourself after effects and 3d camera stuff on. Your whole world view will change! Not really, but you'll laugh at how you originally tried to do this.

If you're interested in getting a book (or borrowing from the library) check out "Creating motion graphics effects vol 1" by chris and tish meyers. Or go to www.creativecow.net and check out the abundance of after effects tutorials. As I recall, at least one of them deals with beginning 3d stuff.
