I dont know if any of you geniuses can help me shed light on how I can archieve this visual effect. CNN use it a lot and now I stumbled into this video that uses it. It looks like the camera is in virtaul world it can move any direction. Please see example at about 51+ seconds into the following video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yKKQbhyVjA
Its a suttle camera movement into the subject and out, 360 degree pan etc.
Please help... Thanks in advance

It's some simple green-screening. With a green wall and a green floor and the camera high and moving you can easily re-create that filming aspect. Adobe Illustrator CS3 now has simple 3D tools that could recreate the backgrounds shown in that video. The motion tracking (keeping the background in sync with the actors) will be the most tedious part. But really it's not that overly complicated of an effect. As long as the actors are lit well and the background moves naturally with them, you should be golden.
After reading your question a little more closely and watching the exact part (at :51+ seconds) you're talking about, that effect is really just a lot of quick camera movements matched with quick cuts and possibly some digital zooming on your editing program. This trick should be easier than the previously mentioned technique.
