I know there are a few Premiere users on here, so maybe you'll find this useful if you haven't already seen this. Adobe has released the beta version of the new Premiere Pro (http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/premierecs3/).

So far, I'm liking it quite a bit, aside from a few minor things with the time remapping/audio, and, well, the color scheme. But I imagine that will change...

I'm thinking about switching from FCP to Premiere, since I feel kind of limited in FCP and I'd like to be fully integrated with After Effects. If CS3 turns our to be good, I just might buy it. Any opinions on Premiere vs. FCP, as I've only used FCP.

I'd look in to the new Motion before making the jump. It just got a MAJOR upgrad.

Also, from what I've heard, FCP still has the leg up over Premiere in terms of pure editing.

My graphics card on my macbook (not pro) most likely can't handle motion- I'm not doing much 3d stuff anyway.

I love premiere pro, its what I first cut my teeth on-- but admittedly there s some worth to being able to switch platforms.

According to a friend of mine who attended a conference about the new CS3, several editors and professionals claimed that Pro CS3 was going to cause many FCP users to switch programs (to Pro CS3). I imagine it was a bit biased of a crowd; I mean, at an Adobe conference, who wants to be the guy saying, "You know, I think we should stick with FCP." However, as a Pro 1.5 user, I'm definitely liking what I'm seeing. While I still want to get more FCP experience, I'm planning on getting CS3 for work and continuing with it as my work editor. As NY mentioned, the intergration between all of the Adobe programs is very advantageous.
