when i import my film into AAE the image appears streched (4:3), now i want to pull down the height so that i can get the letterboxes, i know that i can do it manually by just dragging down one of the "height control points" (or however their name is) of the image.
but doing it this way i have to guess if the image looks ok (meaning the right relation between width and height).
is there another way? it must be possible to insert just numbers or something...
it doesnt work with the render option "stretching" or "croping" because then i do not get the letterboxes.
need help very fast.
thanks

make sure your comp settings are set for a .9 aspect ratio this should take care of the image looking stretched-shi/t, pal uses a different aspect ratio, you'll need to change it to that. Now to get the letterbox, don't resize the image, use the mask tool. Choose the rectangle mask tool from the tool pallet. Drag a rectangle where you want to have the letter box. That's it. If you have multiple clips in AE, you may wish to nest them or copy paste the mask effect.
