Rejoice Premiere users! I just found this page talking about NAB 2003 and how Adobe gave a preview of the development version of Premiere 7. And it's lookin' pretty damn cool! New features include: an enhanced real-time preivew system, greatly improved color correction controls, infinitely nested timelines, new audio EQ controls, track sizes that are now independently sizable, and key frames have now been improved so that they're more like those in AE. Apparently Adobe said the new features in this demo are just 1/10th of what's going to be featured in the "super-secret Premiere 7!!"

This is very very exciting! I've been a Premiere user for 3 and half years and I've been waiting for a big overhaul to Premiere! It's looking like this new version will be able to greatly rival FCP and Vegas video.

Here's the link to the page: http://www.hollywoodindustry.com/2003/04_apr/features/cw_nabday2.htm

Adobe also featured their new Encore DVD program and a new beta version of After Effects. They then showed how you could use Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, and Encore DVD all interchangably to author a professional-quality DVD.

Ohhh, it's looks nice ... but I'm really starting to wonder whether moving to a mac was such a good idea now ...

The article you link to mentions nothing about any Apple Mac versions so you PC owners out there can keep feeling smug.

Ahhh.. that was beauty to my eyes! As along time Premiere user who is sick of Premiere but is strugging in the grasps of Avid, has let a tear slip down his cheek.

I was wondering why Adobe hadn't taken the initiative to counter act against FCP and Avid.

ANy word on release date? This makes me happy.

Hey Apple released Final Cut Pro 4 at NAB also... Richard, please, how could you even consider going back to PC. A PC could not do nearly as much as the power that a mac can give you. And no, I'm not an Apple rep. Just a loyal customer, pleased with thier product.

Irony, Premiere 7 wasn't even supposed to make an appearance at NAB. I guess the folks there at the Adobe demo just got lucky, heh. So I would assume that the release date would be pretty far off.

JASONvb: Exactly two days after I received my shiny new powerbook, I was reading online about some nasty rumours that Adobe was basically going to DROP mac ports of their software.

Yep, no more versions of Photoshop, Premiere or any other Adobe product!

However, I should stress that it is just a RUMOUR at this moment. However, given the fact that Adobe has refused to release any info about mac versions and their release dates as well as the fact that Apple is also basically trying to compete with Adobe (FCP 4 vs Premiere, Shake vs After Effects etc.) ...

So yeah, i'm a bit doubtful as to whether moving to a mac was such a good idea now for film work.

As for raw CPU grunt (which you do need as far as rendering goes), the new 800Mhz FSB 3Ghz Pentium 4 chips (with HyperThreading) now seriously out perform top of the line dual processor 1.25Ghz G4 Macs.

That situ'll only change if Motorola gets off it's backsite and gives the G4 chip a massive speed ramp or for Apple to ditch Motorola in favour of IBM's Power4 or Power5 CPU's.

Phew! I'm never doing a post like this again! My point still stands though, if Adobe is truely giving up on the mac market then us mac users are in major trouble.
