Because Chloe O'Brian doesn't actually exist, I need your help.
Okay. This is the most fun I've ever had upon waking up late on a Saturday morning.
My phone (a Massachusetts cell number) was patiently waiting to inform me of 5 missed calls (between the times of 5:13 am and 5:17 am EST) from a number that didn't show up, and two voicemails. The voicemails appear to be from a group of foreign people who are speaking excitedly, and even include a phone number repeated twice, and the word "America." They might have said "help me" but I'm not sure.
I can't quite make out the language. It sounded kind of Italian, maybe. The phone number is here, but I don't know the format or whether or not it includes country codes and all that. I just wrote it down, breaking it where the speaker paused: 01 76 68 33 6880
Now here's where it gets fun! I've digitized the voicemails into an MP3 file (1:34 long, 1.1 mb) and put it online.
So, please give it a listen and see if you can help me figure out what the heck is going on. Any idea what they're saying? I'd really like it to be an international conspiracy of some sort, but it probably isn't.
Well I found that the Mexican city of Tecolutla has some phone numbers with the format of 01-766-8-**-**-**
01 is the international prefix 766 is the area code for that city and all Mexican phone numbers are 10 digits long (including the area code) So its definitely a possibility.
I also thought I heard a few spanish words in there but I could be wrong.

It sounds like one of those white noise recordings from a haunted house.
I kind of picked up on some Spanish? Maybe? Maybe someone needs help obtaining a green card? Have you contacted and/or been around the southern United States border recently where you may or may not have given out your phone number to someone?

Hah. My message is really obnoxious and says "Frrroommm New York City, THIS is Perry Kroll!" Quite hard to miss.
Yeah, it looks like that page might be our answer. I can't quite figure what format a mexican number would take even WITH the trunk prefix of 01, or if that is still used, or if that plus a number would make 11 or 12 digits.

It's just weird that they seem to be talking in another language most of the time but then say the phone number in really good English...and then say Hello? as if they think someone's picked up...
And I'm actually quite positive that they're speaking German in the first one at least, because they say "geht's nicht" and "Hallo"
But then in the second message the speaker almost sounds hispanic of some sort, so it's like a different person all together...
Have you tried calling the number?

And maybe it's just my mind playing tricks but I swear I heard "pay phone's crap" in the first message...
I also googled the number and came up with several French locations starting with the number "01" so I'm not really sure what that means...Maybe the second speaker lives in France? though she's doesn't seem to be speaking it...
