so im buying a laptop for college. i can either get it through syracuse computer bookstore, or off the dell site (my folks say i have to buy a dell, because theyre silly like that). if i were to edit, id probably be using premiere pro. i just have a few questions:

what mb video card is good for playing/editing video for projects, or just watching dvds

which is a better computer? the one here on the dell site (note the 34% off) or the one the college offers

dell.com | syracuse bookstore
^choose mid-range model.

for this, price is and issue. do u recommend a computer or specs that i might need. note im trying to keep it under 13 or 14 hundred.

any help would be great. thanks

I really wouldn't reccomend getting a Celeron processor to video edit, or do anything other then browse the Internet for that matter. Getting a Pentium M processor for a laptop would be your best bet. The more RAM the better of course. It's not easy to get the whole package but main points to look for are a Pentium M processor(your battery life will be longer and your CPU speed faster), at LEAST 1GB of DDR RAM, and a 60GB Hard Drive. The hard drive isn't really a huge issue as you can always get an external, which is a good idea when video editing. A DVD burner is also a good idea, because an external is just extra stuff to carry around. Other then that, a DELL laptop is a good buy. No, I'm not a DELL fanboy, nor do I really like their products but the components they choose usually work together in harmony.

Oh, one last thing-the only negative thing I've gotta say about the DELL notebooks is that their screens aren't of the best quality anymore. They used to be, but maybe changes had to be implemented. Anyway good luck with your purchase.

Congratulations on your buy, this should be able to run everything you need it to. I don't know the exact specs, but if you took my advice from my previous post you should be okay.
