i'm 1/4 mexican Big Grin

and heriages, religions, races don't mean sh**! If you're a good at what you do, you'll be recognized for that. If you're given a job based soley on one of the above, I'd find it an insult.

I dont know if youre refering to mexican americans @ student films or professionals in the industry, but off the top of my head:

Guillermo Del Toro - (devils backbone, hellboy)
Robert Rodriguez - (desperado, spy kids)
Alfonso Cuaron - (y tu mama tambien, harry potter 3)

As far as getting work goes, everything said before this post sums it up. Although if you decide to come out to LA, about 50% of southern california is mexican american, so you shouldn't experience too much prejudice out here

Mexican food gives me bad gas, but that's beside the point.

Here in ARizona we got a HUGE mexican population, and someo of me amigos are really into film. (But for some reason I can't get them to join the site).

But they've gotten work. So, yeah, you can do it!

mmmmmmmm, burrito.

Juan L - my guess is you're going to find 'some' prejudice and bigotry anywhere and anytime and that's unfortunate, but I agree with all of the above posts that if a person does a good job then then most people don't look at the skin, accent or religion!

Keep making movies and good luck!

Yeah some *******s out there will find anything about you to dislike about you, but the peoples opinions who really matter wont be like that. And i agree you can definetly use your heritage to your advantage because since your parents are mexican you might know more about mexico or mexican americans then the average american. And to encourage you my best friend Jose helps me make films and come up with ideas all the time and he was born in mexico!

Hello Juan-L I consider myself to be a Mexican American too (that is i was born in Mexico but was raised here in these United States almost all my life minus three years) and like you I have pondered wether a career in the film industry was right for me. So far I've haven't encountered any problems! SI SE PUEDE!

Juan L - everyone has an accent! I'm from NC and have a slight southern accent, while my mom and brother have strong southern drawls.

But you caught me! I was referring to a spanish accent! And that's how easily someone is stereotyped! Wink
