Finding Nemo....? It was kind of cute and pretty funny but one of the 100 bset films of all time I think not. I own like 20 or 30 movies that are way more deserving to be on that list. But if it got chosen because its computer animated then Toy Story should take its place. But other than that I don't have any real complaints. But then again I haven't seen most of those movies...

Most high-profile top 100 lists tend to judge films not on their individual qualities, but on their social or industrial significance. Hence we have the inclusion of Star Wars, King Kong, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, etc.
Some of the listings are likely stretches to mention good directors, probably the case with Miller's Crossing (though I wonder why not list Fargo instead?).
The House of Zen and Ugetsu appear, I think, to prove that TIME has a knowledge of Japanese cinema not limited to only the works of Akira Kurosawa.
And some of the listings simply confuse me. Drunken Master II? The Fly? THE FLY?
It's a Wonderful Life... god, I hate that movie.

Lets face it, the point of this list was to make as many people happy as possible, it's a complete compromise, hence the inclusion of such films, as mentioned before, like "Finding Nemo." Lets face it, they wuld probably only have 20 different filmmakers with film on this list if it were "the greatest" because most of the greats have alot of films that because they are all by the same director, anyone of them, if not all could be on the list. As they say, the list is meant to spark discussion, which it has. At least it's not as god awful as that AFI 100 top films list that excluded every non-american, and therefore non-hollywood and mainstream film. Still, who is Time to judge films, didn't you see how their oppinion of "Bonnie and CLyde" changed when everyone else started praising it, they just follow whatever everyone else says, they would never put a little film like "The Bitter Ash" on there. And they just take a director's most popular work, rather than their best, hence Scorsese doesn't have "Who's That Knocking At My Door?" and "Mean Streets."
