I've seen Hollywood Homocid and its a typical Hollywood buddy cop movie.......its lame. I havnt seeing Being John Malcovich but i hear its good.

may I recommend some work by Andrei Tartovsky (if you havent already seen any) "Mirror" is a dynamite film

Satyricon by Fellini is a good one too

The only reason I saw cube was because it was by a Canadian Director, and I read his biography. It was quite good, but I could easily see how people don't like it.

Hollywood Homocide was Hollywood Garbage, it's not worth a watch.

I don't quite remember The Majestic, so I really have no clue.

I have not seen Awakenings or Being John Malkovich, but Being John Malkovich was written by Charlie Kaufmann, and I have enjoyed everything else he has written, so Im sure it's good.

-If you like Charlie Kaufman's style (Adaptation, Spotless mind) then you'll probobly dig Malkovich. It's weirder than his other stuff, and deals more with relationships, but its definately worth renting (Just for the Malkovich in Malkovivh scene). IT's probobly my least favorite of "his" movies though.

-Showtime used to play Awakenings every 5 minutes and I've probobly seen it 100 times, though I don't remember why I liked it so much. De Niro does a great job, and Robin Williams isnt't over the top. The endings kind of a downer but if you like "human interest" kind of movies (what makes a person a person, etc) then awakenings is worth a rent.

-The majestic: Has Bruce Campbell in a cameo role, and is kind of interesting, but is a fairly typical guy forgets who he is then comes to terms kind of movie.

Of the 3 I'd rent Malkovich, consider renting awakenings, and catch majestic on TV.

Yeah, Being John Malkovich totally annihilates the rest of that list. Plus it's a really good weird movie, & a totally original tour de force. Big Grin

Cube is incredibly simplistic, which is pretty cool. It's somewhat interesting, but it gets kinda boring and drags on. Worth watching though I'd say.

Can i ask you a personal question?

How often do you go to the Theaters. Because it appears to me you are quite picky about movies and i wonder how many a year do you watch.

Since you are picky im guessing your favorite movie is awesome. So may i ask what it is?

Thanks

But to get back on topic i would recommend "Being John Malkovich" but thats the only one i've seen out of the ones you have chosen.

From my perspective, it appears that he is not picky, but rather tries very hard to be a non-conformist. So if its mainstream or popular, he doesnt care for it. Nothing particularly wrong with it. I do the same thing with music.

but then again, that could all be from a faulty, skewed POV.

If what you meant is that it's a linear movie then yes your right, it's linear like almost all other films made by Hollywood except for a few, i.e. Pulp Fition, Reservoir Dogs, Memento, etc...

Hollywood Homicide was a funny movie. It was making fun of the typical cop movies and the L.A. scene. To have Harrison Ford doing comedy was brilliant, he's been such a serious actor that it was refreshing to see him play the role.

I would recommend Majestic. Jim Carry did an outstanding job as a dramatic actor. It's a heart felt movie and not entirely funny, just a nice feel good movie. My favorite out of the list, I've yet to see Being John Malkovich

I have only seen two of the listed films.
Hollywood Homicide was terrible. I had to stop watching it after a short while, something I very rarely (if ever) do with films. It WAS like a regular buddy cop film, only a lot worse in my opinion.
The Majestcic was good. Not anywhere near Darabont's Shawshank Redemption but probably on par with the Green Mile in my books. Jim Carrey turns in another great performance, and the supporting cast including Martin Landau also do a great job.
From what I hear Being John malcovich is really good, another uniquely Kaufman film.
