Does anyone here feel that the videos shown on americas funniest home videos, are only to show the mishap of others? i mean, its like we find it hilarious when i guy gets hit in the family jewels with a baseball. Im in karate and i get hit there sometimes and it is not funny to me.
I also think it is the greatest when you see other people's homes and how messy or cluttered they are. Maybe im snoody, but i love it when i look at my surroundings and see how other people live like pigs.

I also like it when you watch programmes about celebrities' "lives" and realise that you don't have to be at all intelligent or have any modicum of talent in order to become rich and famous. It's very reassuring Wink

Sometimes the "family jewels" sketch can be funny - I'm particularly fond of Hans Moleman's "Man Getting Hit by Football" entry for the Springfield Film Festival in The Simpsons.

That's a great point, Shookster. You also don't have to be very moral either! It's amazing how we take celebrities - either film or sports - and put them on a pedestal, just because they have a pretty face or can hit/kick a ball (no pun intended in relation to the family jewels post above)!

Now they are the role models for our children, despite the fact that they have had extra-marital sex, then go home drunk and beat their wife and kids.

Of course, that's a rant and a far-fetched one at that, but there are many people who admire celebrities because they are . . . celebrities and not because they are good people!

Weird Al did a parody of Can't touch this, and turned it into "can't watch this" a cry against poor TV. He's singing about AFHV and says somthing to the effect of:

"I can't believe my eyes,
When I see the kinda stuff that wins first prize,
Somebody's, poor old mom fell down off the roof,
And right on the lawn,
Face FIRST!
On a rake,
I hear they got it on teh 17th take . . ."

Then it goes on about more terrible TV. Its funny,

*cough*kazaa*cough*download*cough*

I hate this show. It's all VERY simply accidents. A person is walking and slips. ha, ha, ha. They treat it like it's pure gold, when I'd say it's a little above a bad knock knock joke.

People fall sometimes, okay, sure. It's the type of thing that is usually "I fell, oh well, I'll just get up." adn is forgotten, and no one gives a damn. Why then do people find it funny? The commentary. THe guys commentary helps it out alot. But not just him, but the fact that the audience has no idea what funny is, because they themselves fell on their head at a young age. At least, most of the audience. How do I know this?
Because not only do they laugh at bad comedy, but in the end they vote for the worst video of the bunch.
If we're lucky we'll end up with two god ones going up against a bad one. If we're lucky.
So we have a dog doing something unusual, a weird contraption and a woman falling on her ass. Guess which one wins. Roll Eyes

"And Bruce Wayne. . . why are you dressed up like Batman?"

You'd think after 40 million (or whatever) years of mankind, the world would be improving, not going backwards...

And TV is just getting worse and worse. They replaced one of the shows I liked with this "love triangle" "programme", where these two guys were pitted against each other to win this one woman (or vice versa), which was utter, utter ****e, and an embarrassment to the programme it replaced.
