ok, for the love of everything, everything deserves its place in the world. Yes, even the **** like me. But I think I found worse ****. I only say this because I've had little to no response to anything ive ever done. Wasnt really looking for much a response im just hear to show you my idea o f entertainment, but i just got a horrible feeling in my stomach after seeing this journal video available on myspace;

http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&...FA3CB76B9B6A22783511

What the hell is this proving? And if nothing else, Id like to remind any sf.comers that their films go unnoticed and unreviewed because e veryone is leaving over 48 comments on this BS 5 min video that degrades humanity in worse ways I thought possible.

THis may turn into the most important discussion and I hope someone makes a film in response to this sort of BS (I know im toiling already cause Im ****ing limp)

Pornography has a place in the world, but it needs to stay in its place. Old nasty sticky floored theatres. Ive expressed many times already how i feel about sexual activitity in hollywood BS, but the voyeuristic cinema verite has become something VERY VERY LOW. if people are more interested in seeing people like THIS, than anything WE do, than we got a problem. I realize now Hollywood is not out enemy anymore, we already beat them when we decided to host our videos on here (or tubes/personal websites) for free, but I feel everyone now, i feel everyone who is going ignored. How can people be interested in this? I almost want to do an adsact copy of this video starring filth (or me) and give it to her so she can see herself. Look at one of her response's to the comments she got;

"can you show me an example of a website already existing on the web which is easy to navigate and works well?"

so whose gonna stoop to this?
and whose gonna work?

I think every bit of art is comparable to pornography. What's more pornographic than the slick, erotic violence of Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, or the Matrix? What's more pornographic than the fantasy of having a Jedi's powers? Or war? Or revenge? Or any plot point, really. I think every good movie employs the same tactics as pornography. They all hook us by offering us something new we cannot experience in our lives. Basically, the instantly-gratifying escapism of movies is very similar to the instantly-gratifying escapism of porn.

I am not worried for the future of film in the "Youtube Media." Things will change, but the change is equivalent to the introduction of sound or color or digital. There will still be films and stories, we will all just need to adapt to this new media landscape, its audience, and their preconceptions.

I feel like this is that phase in an art medium when it's new and people haven't gotten their berings or expectations. Think about photography. One its first widespread uses, before it became an "art form" was actually for pornography. Same with motion picture.

People simply experiment in the medium before establishing any form. The Lumiere Brothers filmed everyday things, like people at a park, and would show it to audiences. The audience enjoyed it because it was something new. The same thing is going on now with youtube; everyone has their say and everyone is experimenting. Wait a few years, however, and you'll start to see the artists and the moguls emerge. People's tastes will mature (well... maybe) and you'll see some really great stuff on the internet.

As far as the link, the only emotion the video stirred in me was pity.
EDIT: It's not my place to judge people. Whatever makes her happy, but she sure doesn't seem too thrilled about being "the internet's girlfriend."

good points, bro, the main concern im having here is the infatuation. people will always return to the porn before they look to find something more meaningful. there was another pornstar's webpage and she had an answering machine on her page "leave me a message telling me your dirtiest secret" and of course she's been left over 400 messages.

now compare to how wpeople respond to f ilms...last movie i saw (actually i was able to avoid but my friend's saw) was that new Rocky movie....and they came out and I was like "whatd u think?" and they could barely give me more than a sentence of a response...and that was only one guy the other kids didnt say anything. So the point im meaning to make here is the importance of discussing what we just saw and discovering it more through discussion.

if pornography inspires larger discussion/voice over a more thoguht out expression of art, then I think art is failing (Which we already know it is when we see whats winning the Oscars) but independent film I feel is losing to the porn.

ITd be diff if there was huge interest in some of the films on here (or anywhere) but ive NEVER seen any followin of art (except back in the old days when Stephen Reedy made a film) There's no excitement to see something new that doesnt have tits!

Art and porn are in the same house, but they are on a diff level of VALUE. porn has absolutely NO value, you cant say its art cause its just ****ing and ****ing prob should of been left off the camera cause otherwise when you're wanking all those stars are doing is feeding off the sticky treasure youre wasting in their presence!

and it goes back to hollywood, and how hollywood has changed your idea of entertainment. why arre people more interested in commenting pornography than even WATCHING/GIVING A CHANCE to something that doesnt have pornography in it?

I think people have built paradigms in their head and expect only certain things when it comes to their levels of entertainment. Anything new or diff, and its out the window, type in "sexy good times" into your browswer and get a rushing feeling to your head for 5 minutes instead.

as opposed to penetrating new space

I dont think people have room anymore! theyre vampires!

Kyle, I love you. You have said what's been on my mind for awhile.

Hop on youtube and look at the top of the page of videos being watched. What do you see?

Naked chicks, super models, an episode of family guy . . . Its all stuff they didn't make themselves and most of it is pornographic.

sex takes priority over art because it is required to be so for the survival of the human species....

the fact that people want things that are instantly gratifying as opposed to things they have to work for is the reason that humans have made such technological progress in the last couple hunderd years, and it is also the reason that the world is going to blow itself up.

it is hardly surprising, nor is it sad that people would rather watch porn than watch a though provoking film. Thinking?...that sounds like work. People will always have a hard time realizing that the friuts of their labor are always more satisfying than the things they get for free.

Great discussion, but honestley its kind of ridiculous. You're looking in the wrong place to find consumers who appreciate art/film. Join a film club, go to a film festival. But sitting at home wondering why no one responds to an arthouse youtube clip is like a major food critic going to McDonalds and complaining about the fries.

It's the Internet, it was designed by virgins, it's filled with perverts and it will continue to be the lowest form of communication until Sarah Conner puts a stop to all this madness.

But I get your point and feel your pain, the whole mess is frustrating.

I hope you all know that you enable the mentality that you have such a problem with. If sex wasn’t so taboo we wouldn’t have such a deep need have it all the time. It’s like telling a child they can’t have a candy bar, it makes that child want that candy bar even more.

I heard a statistic the other day, and it went something like: 95% of internet users, globally, use the internet for sexual gratification. (That means you guys to) So it’s not really independent film that’s losing to porn, it’s the internet that’s losing to porn.

Kyle if what you were saying was true then Dan in Real Life, and Martian Child (both of which are independent by the way) wouldn’t make the top ten in the box office. Back Door Sluts 3, and Breast -ford Wives would

How the hell are Dan in Real Life and The Martain Child independent movies? Both have budgets of around $25,000,000. No independent party is seriously going to invest that much in these movies. These are seriously hollywood plots, on hollywood budgets, with an independent tag. But hey it worked for Little Miss Sunshine, I mean it almost won a best picture Oscar, so why not try it again? It seems to me as soon as you label an average movie with independent it suddenly becomes a superb movie.

And about porn movies not being in the top ten in the box office (besides the point no porn gets released in theaters nationwide). It's because the porn industry makes hundreds of movies a week. How many new movies come out in theaters a week? 10 maybe?. There's so much out there that each one doesn't have to make incredible amounts of money to make the industry into the huge money monster it is. If one movie isn't successful they could care less, they have nearly no money in it.

Hmm...well the porn industry pulls in about $50 Billion a year, though that does combine both print and video

yah I seriously doubt any film getting "released" in theatres is independant. independant films usually get no time in theatres and have to run around through festivals (which i think is better than nationwide release-except via internet which makes the viewing much more personal/easier/free)

you have to pay a lot/risk independent thought to have your film released in theatres (to get those big bucks) cause those theatres are owned by hollywood. those filmmakers might be somewhat independant with their ideas, but like you pointed out, they're here to be making the big bucks.
