Hi, everyone! I know it's been awhile.

I'm applying to one of Tennessee's Governor's School Program. If you're not familiar with it, it's a summer program offered at various university's across the state. Each offer a specific area study. The one I'm applying to is Humanities at University of Tennessee at Martin (UT Martin). All are free and give the students the opportunity to earn six to eight college credits. Six for the humanities program.

For the application they're asking for two samples of writing. Two different genres. 300 hundred word limit.I'm submiting a poem and an analytical commentary. The commentary will be over 300 words. Do ya'll think they would notice or have a problem? It has 340 words now. I got advice to add more detail, though.

What are your experiences with the X word limit? Thanks in advance.

No reassurance? I guess I'll take my chances.

Always, ALWAYS stick to the word limit. At best they'll penalize you - at worst, throw your application out. Just play it safe.
