anyone catch the new show Numb3rs? By Ridley Scott.
It was pretty cool IMO. For those who don't know what I'm on about its a crime drama about an FBI agent and his math genius/professor brother who can locate a serial killer with an equation using the locations of his attacks.
I thought that was absurd, until I remembered reading an article on the very subject in Popular Science. Anyway, very nicely done show.
Anyone watch it?

I watched it, with reluctance (it's on CBS). I was sick and tired of the previews leading up to it, but have to admit that it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be.
I thought if I saw that sprinkler just one more time that I would scream - and I'm not sure how many FBI offices would let a mathematician just walk in, erase their boards and move agents around the room!
However, I can see where the characters could become very interesting and if the stories don't get too cute, it may be a pretty good show.
I didn't watch it, but it kind of looked like a rip off of Pi, which I didn't think was necessarily bad. I'm definitely going to check out the next episode though.
Popular Science prints things that are barely true most of the time, and whatever is true they take to ridiculous limits of speculation. I was so dissappointed when i found out, it used to be my favorite magazine.

what do you mean RFranco? They're really widely respected! They were just awarded the Sagan award for "outstanding achievement in improving the public understanding of and appreciation of science." I'm pretty sure I've never come across anything that isn't verifiable in there.
Numb3rs (yes, title is lame!) was Sunday @ 10 on CBS, but it is moving to Friday @ 10 (which interferes with Monk maybe Monk is shown twice)
I thought they overdid the "he had an idea!" effect. It was a little bit irritating. In general though, it seemed potentially cool. A hell of a lot better than Medium, which is seeming worse and worse with each episode.

My mom had turned it on I started yelling at her to change the channel. I watched for about 10 minutes and wound up watching the rest of the episode. It was nicely done and very interesting to watch. The effects were nice, but not flashy, which I liked. I will definetely catch it next week.
I generally hate network TV. The last non-animated or non-comedy show that I liked and watched was X-Files for the first 4-5 seasons. With the advent of reality TV, there's no compelling reason for networks to spend money on quality dramatic, narrative programming. It doesn't really bother me since I think the movie format is superior anyway, and there are always DVD box sets of the Simpsons, etc.
