i don't know about the extended preview, but they just showed a clip on Conan O-Brian, and the acting is TERRIBLE.

WHY MUST ROBERT RODRIGUEZ DO THAT TO ALL OF HIS MOVIES?

I think this movie could be really good or really bad. It's definitely going to be different and I most likely will go see it.

Having read the graphic novels the films are based on and seeing the comic con extended preview, I think the film does a GREAT job of capturing what happens in the novels. It fits perfectly actually. And it's pretty much word for word, shot fo shot too...which I don't think has ever been done.

Someone just told me today that they thought that Rodriquez found actors that looked like the comic book characters - and if they didn't, they used prosthetics/make up to transform their looks.

Don't know if that's true or not!

almost all of the actors look extremely similar to their characters. Bruce Willis is probably the one that looks least like his character. everyone else.....it's kinda eerie, because they look SO like their characters. especially benicio del toro. And yes, they put prosthetics on some of the characters, like mickey roarke.

Haha. Yeah, after I posted, Spike TV had a special on SIN CITY with actor interviews, etc. It made me want to see the movie even more.

I didn't know that it had such an "A list" of actors (at least in my mind)! Mickey Rourke was really made up for his role.

Not having ever read or seen SIN CITY as a comic, I don't have a preconceived notion about who should look like what!

this is the same reason i was so excited by it (and that frank miller actually worked on it) but none of those things have to do with the acting though. it's all visual. and dialogue IS word for word, but again, has nothing to do with the acting.

capturing what happens in the novel is a matter of look (cinematography) and feel (directing), but that leaves acting un accounted for.

they put some kind of prosthetic/wig on just about everybody. it's easier to style into what the comci book looks like and put it on someone's head/face instead of sitting there trying to get the hair right everyday from scratch.

anyway, since it's three stories, hopefully the bad acting is just in that one story, and even more hopefully, in that one scene.
