I'm starting to save up for a TV as currently all i've got in my place is a tiny 20-year-old hand-me-down from my folks, but I don't really know what to look for in terms of visual quality and features.

Obviously I can't afford anything crazy like an LCD TV, currently I'm thinking of a 28 inch, Flatscreen 16:9 100hz TV, whichever the cheapest I can find I guess. But is 100hz refresh worth the extra money?

Anyone got any advice about any of this?

I'd personally get a Sony Trinitron HD Ready tube TV - not flatscreen.

Flatscreens are too expensive for a great image and the Sony tube tv's are great.

I wouldn't get a non HD ready TV now.

Of course if that is too much there are cheaper non Sony versions. But Sony is the best.
