I've been looking around to get myself a website with my own doman and everything. So far http://www.dot5hosting.com/index.php looks pretty good, I've cross referenced it over a bunch of google searches and it looks pretty good, BUT in some online forums customers have said that the server goes down somewhat frequently.
I'm looking for good webhosting, ~1000MB, 20+GB bandwitdh per month under 10 dollars. Dot five offers 1500MB and 50GB for 5/month.
What web hosting companies do you guys use, are they reliable, good, and how much do they cost? Thanks!

P.S. Where is this website (studenfilms) hosted?

You're doing the right thing by shopping around and looking for reviews. I came up with:

www.addaction.net

I'm hosting three sites on their servers and haven't had one complaint.

Good luck with whoever you go with!

I'm pretty much really dumb in the field of web sites, but what is monthly transfer, and how is it beneficial?

Bruce, monthly transfer, or bandwidth, is the maximum amount of data that can be transfered to and from your server in one month.

Simple html pages take up only a few dozen kb at the very most, so they'll never overload your monthly transfer unless you have thousands of visitors. Say you had a 10 mb movie file and only 1000 mb of bandwidth. Only 100 people would be able to watch it before your server ran out of bandwidth.

The Burlybuff site is hosted by Godaddy.com. I also host a friends business site with them. You can buy domain names for about 8 bux a year, and for $4 a month you get 500mb storage, 25gig bandwidth and 100 email accounts (yourname @ yoursite.com). I've never had a problem with them, though they dont support ASP on their basic packages, so you cant do any of that type of database stuff, if you wanted to.

www.just-hosting.com has some good servers, that's where I have my website. I get 1 gig of space and 50 gb of bandwidth a month for $5.50 a month. They have other packages though.

Trust me, this is the best deal i have found going so far. I host my site with them ( see below) - www.surpasshosting.com . $6 a month gets you 3 GB space, 50 GB of transfer, and a whole assortment of php, cgi, webstats and other goodies built in. Theyre great, i had a strange issue with my user name selection (conflict with "test" in a user name is for diagnostics only lol...go figure) when i joined and i had THREE tech people working on it within minutes. Great service. I 've only experienced serious downtime during the hurricanes that hit florida this year (where they are located).

I have www.lunarpages.com . It's eight bucks/month for 1GB storage/40GB transfer. I knew there was cheaper, but the cPanel interface and reliability was worth a dollar or two extra a month.
