Wow that's harsh. I think the majority of Superman will suck, but Kevin Spacey as Lex Luther seems like it might be good...or really really bad, one of the two.
Yeah, it doesn't help that the concept of Superman is completely cheesy. It's like he still lives in his technicolor 1930s.
I never cared much for the older movies, and this one isn't shaping up to be anything impressive in my opinion. I'd rather see a movie made about the Green Lantern.
Superman needs a make-over or something.
I'll be seeing Superman Returns, with low expectations to that I won't be let down when it sucks. Maybe superhero movies aren't for me, since the only two I've enjoyed in the past decade were Batman Begins and X2.
Superman sucks. Batman rules. My opinion is right. (nah, just kidding, to each his own. I'm just mocking fanboyism.)

Hmmm I perhaps wasn't clear. I was trying to say that comparing the two was pointless. In that you have to go into Superman fully aware of what type of movie it is and judge it on those merits. Superman isn't "badass" or "cool." Superman is fun and sweet. I guess I was trying to say is that i think it is a) going to be awesome and b) going to piss off a lot of people who don't like things that little kids can enjoy too.
But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

I loved the original Superman with Christopher Reeves way back when. Somehow this new doesn't seem to have the same feeling. It might be that I'm not a little kid anymore, or it might be something they did wrong. I can't say.

That's a good point. For what it's worth, my little brother is psyched for it. I wish I could take his point of view of liking every movie he sees, but when you're a kid everything is amazing. I've seen everything, so hardly anything amazes me anymore.

Hulk and Fantastic Four were depressing. I wanted to really like both of them, and out of the two of those, Hulk was certainly the lesser of two evils.
I didn't care much for Daredevil or Spiderman either. I feel that Daredevil was just miscast, and Ben Affleck just didn't do the character justice. He's quite a poor actor. Colin Farrell was the same kind of situation, I hated his portrayal of Bullseye. I also disliked Elektra, and I wish they would've just left her out of teh movie.
Spiderman I had issues with due to the casting of Mary Jane and the cheesy CGI shots of him doing his web-slinging thing through the city. It really just took me out of the movie.
I'm not looking forward to Superman. It just looks cheesy. The costume looks stupid, especially the stupid belt he has on it.
I AM looking forward to X3, because I thought X2 was superb. Ghostrider psyches me out a little bit too, but it's going to probably be stupid due to probably bad CGI and the unfortunate casting of Nicholas Cage.

That's not neccassarily true, I just don't think anyone really gave Superman the chance. Batman has enough roots in camp to rival Superman. I believe it was the later author's like Frank Miller and others who were able to solidify Batman's Dark Knight persona which made him a true badass. The most anyone darkens Superman, Miller included, is turining him into a totalitarian Ubermensch dictator. Even though Metropolis was always the good and the glam of New York whereas Gotham was always the bad and the dirty, I feel if someone shifted Metropolis more towards the middle, Superman would make a great fish out of the water story; making the city more alien to Clark Kent than his powers and himself. Of course I haven't actually read enough comics to know if that story has already been told or not, but it could make for a good one nevertheless. In any case, I had a dream set in this movie's Metropolis which only makes me want to see it more. Despite how much cooler Batman is.

I also had a pretty bad feeling, but i was able to see about 10 minutes of it, and i must say its better looking than I expected. It's just one of those movies that you'll enjoy only as much as you choose to buy into it, I think. That said, I've never liked the concept of Superman. Batman and the Green Lantern are WAY better.
Actors? What actors?

add my name to the bad feeling list. BTW, anyone know who wrote the script, cause the dialouge seems really cheesy.
I don't set out to make "art" I just try to make something with a beginning, middle, end, and some characters...the art seems to come during the process.

no, i was referring to the trailer, which of course could be a little misleadling but the whole, "i have sent them you, my only son," it makes him sound like a futuristic Jesus persona.
