Last night, a scene for a new Disney film starring The Rock was shot literally right outside my building in downtown Boston.
It was a scene for the new movie "The Game Plan," in which The Rock plays an NFL quarterback who discovers that he has a daughter. They've been shooting all over the state for the past few weeks but this week they're in my area.
I didn't care much about seeing The Rock, but watching the scene being shot was cool. They were shooting a scene of him getting out of a Mercedes McLaren SLR and walking into a club, with fans and paparazzi going nuts and whatnot. They lit the street with a couple Tungsten 4K's and did the whole thing in one shot with a Steadicam. It was the first time I'd seen a "real" Steadicam in action and it absolutely blew my mind. It looks like so much fun to operate one of those.
And for those of you who care about the whole celebrity thing, here's a shot I got of him as he was getting into his car.
I'm happy that film companies are coming back to Boston. It's a great city where not nearly enough movies are shot.

I should post some photos of the Washington Sq. Park shoot going on for I Am Legend. It's been here for weeks. They have fire at night, and blown up taxies lining the streets, and giant glowing balloons to light the park. It's absolutely insane. They've brought in fake trees, and miles of cables, and dozens of condors and cranes and things, and it's all just sitting there.

Since we're on the subject (This is less than surprising because I live in LA, but still...) A few scenes for I Heart Huckabees were shot near my friend's house, we watched them shoot a bunch. In fact if you watch the scene where mark wahlberg argues with the other fireman about what transportation to take, bike or truck, my friend and I are about 2 feet behind the camera, hiding in a window. Fun Stuff.
Actors? What actors?

A few years back when I went to Berklee in Boston they shot scenes from what I think was Mystic River outside my dorm. I know it was a movie directed by Clint Eastwood and this was late 2002, so Mystic River seems right. But I forget the name of the movie.
