Have you people out there ever listened to Bright Eyes - they're utterly amazing. And their new cd, I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning is, like, music made for film, it seems. Seriously, and one else want to share you love for this band.

dude, ive been listening to him for 8 years. And when i say him, its just one guy, Conor Oberst. Its not a a band, or a group, he has people play with him, but never the same people.

ive seen him 3 or 4 times. His shows are better than any of these student films.

you cant use his music, unless you get rights, which is pretty hard

Yeah, I've known about Bright Eyes for a long time. I don't know how many years. Not as many as Tanner Shay, but I've listened to him for a while. I would have to say that I don't think IWAIM is his best album though. Half the songs are amazing, and the other half aren't (they're still good, but not the caliber of the others). I think my favorite might be fevers and mirrors. I don't know.

His new one is more folkier than his others. And there are lots of better indie folk bands out there (Bonnie Prince Billy, Sufjan Stevens, Devendra Banhart, etc.), so maybe that's why I say that it's not Bright Eyes' best - because there is better folk out there.

Why're you comparing a guy's show to a student film? Those are kinda two different things.

I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning isn't my favorite either. And I wasn't talking like I was going to use there music. I can just see, well, for instance, Lau, I can see that in a sad movie or something. But yea Lifted or whatevertheyhaveafterthat. Bigger Picture is awesome. The way it comes Conor off on SKYYYY is great.

i've never really gotten into bright eyes. he seems too self-absorbed. some of his songs are decent, but he just gets lost in himself a lot..it seems. however, i like his actual rock band desparecidos.

but..there's a lot better music out there.

I completely agree. A lot of people really went crazy over Bright Eyes. But like I said in my other post, there is better stuff out there that isnt as well known that is way better.
