Serious question: How do south park get away with insulting celebrities on their show? They have insulted Paris Hilton, Michael Jackson, Russel Crowe, Barbara Streisand, etc, but they always seem to get away with it.
Surely that little disclaimer at the start of the show can't be the reason why, can it?

Saturday Night Live and MadTV insult them all the time too. it's not illegal to insult someone.

south park gets away with it through the same way political cartoons/caratures do.

Not necessarily true. You may have a hard time getting a favorable outcome if the "satire" is only exaggerating existing traits, but you can sue for anything.
