Is it just me or is it extremely annoying how the Australian media/public never shuts up about Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett. They are like the only actresses we ever talk about. I just get the feeling that other countries think we are incredibly up ourselves. Example: An Australian talk show host was talking to Steven Spielberg recently. He is one of the most successful directors of the past 40 or so years. There is so much you could ask him. Yet somehow they wind up talking about how good Nicole Kidman is. Another example: Back at the Oscars. For about 2 months prior to the awards all the Oscar news we heard was about Blanchet and her chances of winning. It got to the point where I was hoping she didnt win, just so they would stop talking about her. But of course she did, and then she got even more attention. She was on the front page of the paper, with the heading: Queen Cate. Not King Clint, a man who is a legend of the industry. I mean, seriously, it was only best supporting actress. Its a great award, dont get me wrong, but we would never have cared if she wasnt involved. It just infuriates me how the media is so in love with these women, and probably a few other Aussies who have 'made it' overseas. We must seem so arrogant. I guess I don't really have a question. I'm just venting some anger.

what about Russell Crowe? Isn't he australian? Not a lot about him? I would think so... much better actor than the other two... Although the media seems to portray him as an *******.

Well. I have a friend who worked with him before. The media's portrayal is 100% accurate.
I never really liked Russel Crowe much (as a person), ever since pretty much the first time I saw him when he was making his acceptance speech for best actor for The Gladiator. He seemed somewhat stuck up, like he knew he was better than everyone else. Guess other people see that now.
Psh... New Zealanders Australians... They're all the same.
And Adam... I don't want to say acting like an ass is ok... but he was better than them. He is a REALLY good actor. But throwing a telephone against the wall when you don't get what you want is a little bit odd...
Oh PS... I was kidding about the new zealander/aussie remark. Don't jump on me about it.
OH EDIT -- The reason I thought he was Australian isbecause he lived there since he was a small child (according to IMDB). I would say he's probably more Aussie than he is NZ...
