Hey guys,
I am working on a 10-minute short film that must be completed by the end of the month. Contrary to I guess what everyone else does, I like to compose my music before I shoot so I can shape the mood of the story and then use that as a reference when I shoot. I would compose the music myself but it's really taking a toll on my free time and I just need someone else to share the work with.

Of course this isn't a paid deal, but if someone, for example, would like to pick up where I left off with this song:

http://www.frozenphoenixproductions.com/misc/check.mp3

and still get a foreboding/creepy-type mood, that would be neat. I'm looking for a natural sound but if you can add electronica-like techno beats mixed with strings that would be even more impressive.

If you're interested, email/PM me and I'll describe the synopsis of the story. Better yet, work with that music and send what you've got to me. There would be other music to compose in addition to this one. Thanks.

Sort of a bummer that nobody volunteered, out of all the composers that showboat here. Scared to have your creativity limited? Or to have your Garage Band/FruityLoops way of things revealed? Oh well...too late now. Took me a while, but I got the thing finished. Thanks bunches!

that is kinda weird no one replied, but you know you could've e-mailed some of the composers, cause I it seems they don't constantly come around, so maybe they just missed it, idk.

Maybe no one wanted to score a 10 minute project in two weeks?

Well I did that by myself...I would assume that two people would be even less work, "knowledgable" no less.

And yes, I should've mailed specific composers, I just didn't have the time to wade through all the classifieds and find the ones that seemed like they knew what they were doing.

If someone else is doing work on your project, triple the 'time' estimate for doing it yourself.. no one is as interested/motivated as you.

True.

I should also add collaboration on creative matters can be difficult. Particularly if one of them is also "the boss" for that particular project.
I mean, it´s one thing to collaborate with another composer, but when that composer is also the director...
BTW, I´m not implying in any way that Ben here is a difficult person to work with, or anything like that.

Finally, even for the friendliest and coolest collaborations, it takes at least twice the time it would take any of the participants to do it on his/her own, if nothing else for communication issues. One of the ways to make it work is to clearly define each person´s responsiblities (like have one of them be the composer and the other the orchestrator, or something).

Personally, I would have loved to do it, though, but couldn´t handle any more projects at the time of the original post.
But Ben, I´m glad you were able to finish it... would you like to show us the final version?

Peace,

E.
