Hm, it sounds like You need more of a sound engineer? At least if You want to fix-up a recorded MP3. Or did You have something else in mind??? Regards, Rico

Hi wdy. If you give me a link to the song I can try to listen to it in my studio. If it is in a already finished mp3 there is not much one can do other than pushing it through a few mastering effect (multiband compressor, sonic enhancement etc), but I can have a look. If you have the tracks seperately it would help a lot, especially if you want to bring up the vocals in the mix.

The vocals actually sounded a little hot to me. It did sound very compressed (like most mp3s sound). But I don't know if there is really anything you can do about that. I'm sorry I can't help your situation much, but I'm curious why you can't get a higher quality format to work with? Couldn't the band get you masters ... or at least a cd which will sound less compressed? Yeah, this whole song needs to be re-recorded and remixed. There is really nothing that can be done here. Tell the band that you think they should record this song again, find an audio production guy, and send him the masters of the recording. Here is what I think needs to be done (Everyone else pitch in with ideas too):
There needs to be 2 guitar recordings (even if they are exactly the same).
The drum-kit needs to have seperate recordings of EACH drum, cymbal, tom, ect.
Needs a bass guitar.
Vocals could be recorded about 5 times (this sounds weird but sometimes it can really add something to have more than one vocal track).
Better Microphones will help this out by FAR. I know they are expensive, but they can be worth it.
Hope for the best, and have fun with it wdy!
