Thank you for your interest in BOB:Brief Original Broadcasts. For more information, please go to www.watchbob.com.
BOB is a 24/7 digital cable channel dedicated to short form content between one and eight minutes in length and targeted to the 18 to 34 demographic. Our main format will showcase work from 1-8 minutes, but we are currently taking submissions up to 15 minutes in length in an endless variety of styles, categories, and genres of filmmaking. We are planning on launching the channel in the spring of 2003. BOB offers a compelling and unique appointment-free viewing experience, rich with content created by independent producers that rarely, if ever have been seen on television.

Our vision is to create a new breed of television channel by showcasing distinctive and diverse programming which will broaden the cultural horizons of our viewers. BOB will offer an unprecedented entertainment viewing experience and cultural destination to this discriminating demographic. BOB will offer an unprecedented entertainment viewing experience and cultural destination to this discriminating demographic. BOB will speak to this group in their voice and will remain consistent in its commitment to the highest creative standards. Our goal is to compile the best work in the US and abroad for filmmakers, directors, editors, designers, animators and content producers to showcase their work in the most powerful of all media-TV.

The BOB programming selection process is determined by a creative review committee, which selects work based on its cultural and artistic merit. BOB’s distinctive programming will attract a broad audience, including the film and television industry professionals looking for emerging talent. BOB will provide a unique forum for the independent filmmaking community and offer a venue for a powerful form of expression neglected in television broadcast until now. We invite all filmmakers and content producers to participate in the launch of BOB by submitting their films for our selection process.

We are now accepting work and would like viewing copies on either DVD, 3/4" or 1/2" tapes. We prefer to view NTSC tapes, but if you have PAL, please send it to us and we will convert it here. As part of our evaluation process we would like to have your work screened by other BOB employees, as well as, potentially, some focus groups. In order for us to do so, we will need you to sign an Option Agreement and send it in with your viewing cassette. Please contact me and I will send you the appropriate paperwork as an attachment.

If you are interested in showcasing your work, please respond to this email indicating the format you will be able to send to us. Also include a short paragraph or synopsis of your film, the length and the category it would best be described as, (ie. live action drama, cell animated comedy, live action narrative, digital animated horror, etc.).

If the film is selected, we will have you sign a license agreement with BOB, you will be paid a flat rate license fee of $300, and you will need to send a broadcast quality cassette of either a Beta SP or Digibeta to me at the address below. Our programming department will contact you in the near future with specific directions on how to proceed when the film is selected.

We look forward to bringing the best and brightest creative production to television, and will rely on the top creative minds to bring it to life.
