I've had several requests regarding style.

This is always a dangerous area since people attach so many different meanings to a given style. Like saying "Orchestral" leads some to think "John Williams". Which I'm not. So here goes:

My music ranges from understated orchestral (think Carter Burwell) to quasi-indie-electronica (think Philip Glass meets The Dust Brothers).

Also, San Francisco's Funklogic released their first album which I recorded and mixed. It was produced by the band and legendary keyboard programmer Gary Leuenberger. Links to the band's site and an audio sample are avaible on my site.

I listened to a couple of your songs, and I really like what I hear. It really fits the mood of the movie that I'm about to make...

What are the prices you normally charge for composing a score? The movie is about...20-25 mins long.

What I charge depends on several things:

1) Length of project / amount of music needed
2) Your budget
3) How much I like the film

Obviously if you have zero budget I have to really think it's a cool film. If you've got some budget available then it enables me to do things like bring in live musicians...

And thanks for the compliment on the music...

I don't think I have a budget...heeh...well I haven't started filming, I mean, I have a thousand dollars right now, I'm just thinking of where I should put it. And I'm definately not spending all of it...

I just need to get a shotgun mic, firewire card (for laptop), and then get my Steadycam built...

And for freebee's, do you just whip together a soundtrack, or do you actually take the time to go through the movie and make it accordingly?

Brandini: I hear that Sam Raimi (Evil Dead Trilogy, Darkman, Spiderman) built a makeshift stedicam out of a couple of 2x4s. There is a book called the Evil Dead Companion which has alot of good info about how he did his first feature length film (Evil Dead) that could offer you some really good advise. Might be able to free up some money. Good luck!

The 2x4 crane isnt that complex. Pretty damn basic actuaully, but can make for some cool shots, when used right. Its basically just a camera strapped to the center of a long 2x4. Get a guy on either end, and Violla. You have a 2x4 crane. Anyone intersted in the "Hows" and "Whys" can e-mail me.

Answer: I'll send you an email directly but for anyone else reading this...If I choose to work on a project it's because I want to create something I'm proud of - and therefore something you as the filmmaker can be proud of. If I don't take the time to push my own creative envelope and learn something each time then there would be no point. If there's an opportunity to improve my craft...why shouldn't I take advantage of it?

That being said, If someone pays me $2500 to do a project then the music will most likely be more complex - involve more outside musicians/ensembles - and consequently could take more time. But I never half-ass a project. And you wouldn't walk away disappointed.

dood, thats some good ass ****. I like it, some of it could DEFIDENTALY be used for future films that me and my friends make.
