Firerfox is needed because that is the framework that Celtx is being developed in. By using Firefox, it allows quick development of a net friendly app. The plan is to have a single install file but we're waiting on Mozilla/Firefox to break up their core components so we can then include only the items we need instead of the whole application.
When you start the appllication, you can either download a project or start a new project. Dowload can be found under the File menu item on the top.
There is also a fair amount of documentation on the web site. The Walk-thru will take you through the main features of Celtx.
