hello!
i'm a student from near Oxford in the UK. i'm planning to start up an informal film showcase every week or so at my college, using short films i've found on free internet sites.

however, i'm not entirely clear of the legality of copying films from the net and showing them at my college- would i be in breach of copyright if i didn't have permission from the directors whose work i showcased?

if i do need permission, then if you're happy for me to use your films please post here or email me! i'm keen to inject a bit of creativity and contemplation into the general apathy of the student body here.

Legally, yes, you need permission. However, if you're showing them for free, to a smallish group I doubt you'd ever get in trouble.

I'd also be worried about the quality - web video doesn't look that good to begin with, I'd be scared to see it projected!
