Its been a long time coming, but i finally shot "Aficionado" last month. Its a modern adaptation of the Edgar Allen Poe story "The cask of Amontillado", shot with a DVX. I put up some stills and a piece of the score, which i recorded with one of the actors using live drums and an indian flute, plus some synths. the stills are kind of dark because i have been editing with a gamma setting apropriate for NTSC, not the web...so when this gets cut to a web version they'll be a little brighter, but you get the idea. I only posted images that dont say too much about the story...so the good stuff is still a secret for now . anyway, have a look, they are posted here.
trailer and microsite will be complete by May with any luck. I'll keep you posted.
No offense to the drummer, but he kind of overplays. The flute part is cool and creates a nice open-ended feel. I would minimize or even completely remove the drum part, but if you just used a room mic it may not be possible...
Well...i am the drummer. thats the feel we were going for. Its not a room mic, its all tracked. Fits the opening quite well actually. It'll make more sense in context. It should probably be also mentioned thaat i only used about 1 min. of this audio, sliced up. We just freeformed it to see what we would get.
