Too bad. Even though I didn't really like the movie, they made an amazing film with the publicity, etc.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=638&e=2&u=/nm/20040817/en_nm/film_cameraman_dc

You can work your butt off to try to make it, but in the end . . .

I don't want you to think that I'm some sick psycho (though I most likely am), but do you think the camera was rolling as he died? That would be some chilling footage.

No sicker than the rest of us! Wink

One of the first things I thought of (other than the usual) was - could they save the footage and was it rolling at the time of the crash?

Not to get off the subject, but since we're talking about crashes, did you know they have footage of people on the plane on 9/11? I found it on like altavista. Chilly things.

Blair which did an awesome at marketing. I didn't like the film, but they did a good job nonetheless

There was a website that had different things from the plane...like the gunmen, the people yelling. I guess it was from the camera that was on board, but they didn't get the footage until after the crash. I have no clue why they didn't put footage on t.v. I thought they would have. I found the site like under altavista. It was a homepage of one of the family members. I'll look for it and post it.

First off, a moment of silence for a lost camera man, who contributed a lot to the great world of filmmaking . . . . . . .

All right, interesting link Kyle, but the person is no more then a blind, accuse Bush of anything. DON'T TURN THIS TOPIC INTO A POLITICAL DISCUSSION! IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE MY COMMENT, GO TO FILM RECCOMANDATIONS AND GO TO FARENHEIT 9/11!!!!!!!!!!!

A plane, carrying even half full fuel, can destroy probably a six block radius around you.

Back to cameraman.

TD, I forget all the time that I am not invincible. Example, monday night I was on a roof, filming a scene with a metal pole. An unexpected storm rolled in and the lighting was less then a mile away. We still did the scene, but after we got down I turned to my buddies and said, "I could have just died up there."
I am not normally a stupid person when it comes to actions. But I was blinded by my love for film, and therefore was putting myself in a dangerous situation.
I did not like the Blair Witch (didn't even see all of it) but at least the man died doing what he loved.

your sig is particularly fitting for that post.

i too find myself doing dumb or dangerous stuff without thinking twice about it while filming. the potentially worst would be backing up slowly into an electric fence with the steadicam. luckly the AD shouted "WATCHIT" at the last moment - i shudder to think what could have happened to my camera if i'd been zapped.

I didn't mean to get the subject to a political topic. Sorry.

I have dumb some really stupid things before with out thinking it. At my high school, I was filming a short film in my theatre for my media class. We were doing a fight sequence with sticks. Well, my dumb mind didn't think about putting up the large (new) scrim that the school had just bought. My luck, I did a twirl, and I had the stick out, and ripped the whole scrim. Half of it was on the ground and half of it was still on the rods. I had to pay for it. $600 for it. Luckly I didn't have to pay for the whole thing. The school just wanted me to pay half.

It's all about protecting the camera!!!! TD, you're the one getting hired as camera man. It's all about the camera!!! Wink

speaking about protecting your camera, I thought some of you might find this story to be of some interest:

Big Grin well i doubt it'd have been that bad. half the cast were taking turns touching it with bigger and bigger metal objects to see how fast they twitched. my friend touched it with milk on his hands once and couldn't move his arms for a whole day though Roll Eyes

That site is the biggest load of BS I've ever seen. And it has nothing to do with my political opinions either. To suggest that the President of the United States would hijack the hijackers of an already known terrorist group and crash a plane into the World Trade Center is just RIDICULOUS, and not to mention IMPOSSIBLE. Especially since he doesn't attempt to support his claims. He just says, "Look at these blurry pictures, you can see some explosions and some puffs of smoke. That's proof that the Bush administration is sinister." I cannot fathom how paranoid and stupid that person must be.

And Kyle, this has nothing to do with the topic. So let's all get back on topic here. Thanks.

Hey man, they killed Kennedy, and he was their own President, unless you can tell me the Zapruder film is too blurry as well.

Kyle can't stay on topic in his own threads, hes the guy who created the "Kyle's nook of nonesense" its just expected he will shake things up, I would say we were right off topic atn the first reply when I made the comment of the footage of the crash of a helicopter. So I could blame myself for this, but I'd rather blame society as a whole Big Grin
