That's laughable. Some film professor gets wind of a right-winged personal attack on his most hated outspoken liberal and makes it a class assignment to promote it.
quote:
This group dealt with the fact that, even though "Manufacturing Dissent" was even-handed and came from the perspective of disillusioned liberals, the right-wing press was eager to embrace its debunking of Moore.
I like that. It's almost like the article is guaranteeing the movie's complete integrity. Yes, I'm sure a movie about Michael Moore is even-handed and completely truthful. Completely. Biased and driven by hate for the man? Noo. It couldn't be.
Did you guys even read the article? First of John Pierson isnt just "Some professor." He's ben called the Guru of Indie cinema. He sold Kevin Smith's first film, Spike Lee's first film, Errol Morris' first film, and even Michael Moore's first film.
Second of all, cut the Texas bullsh!t. Austin is as liberal as they come.
The filmmakers are more liberal than Michael Moore and come from Canada where they proudly call themselves socialists.
Hardly "Right wing" attacks.
Do you research before you talk.

The movie is about as unbiased as a documentary can get. The filmmaker's dont hate Moore at all. They started out making a documentary about Moore because they loved him. But after interviewing Nader, Chomsky and other people that Michael Moore has been close with they find out that he really doesnt do anything for the Left.
Let me ask you this from one liberal to another.
In the 2000 election Michael Moore campaigned heavily. Look who won. In the 2004 election Micheal Moore campaigned heavily. Look who won.
In 2006 Michael Moore was nowhere to be seen, and what do you know, look who took that election.

Sorry for the Texas rub! Consider it friendly ball-busting from California!
I read the article and it seems like a great class from a very experienced teacher, but the content of the film they are promoting is quite irrelevant and about 4 years late! Nobody cares about Moore. It's a waste of time. What's next a biopic about Tonya Harding?
And what a monumental waste of time to pick apart Moore as it misses the greater point of peoples general dislike of the current administration and completely overestimates Moore's contribution to the discent!
And the comment: "In 2006 Michael Moore was nowhere to be seen, and what do you know, look who took that election." Is a major simplification of what happened. And moore has always been upfront about his support of Nadar and even commented that in hindsight he felt guilty for supporting him. Research bro.
You don't have to watch his 9/11 movie to know Bush has made major mistakes in office. Texas must be very proud. Argh, i guess i shouldn't be dick with that last statement and ignoring all the political BS it seems like an AWESOME experience for those students!

I was just throwing those facts out there. The overall part of my argument is that Michael Moore hasn't really done anything for liberals or the country. Usually when he campaigns he just gives people like us a bad name.

Why are you guys even debating that point? The most important thing is that Michael Moore is a total ****, and a pushy ******* who is full of ****, and left wings need to stop being douches. Since when has "liberal" and "left wing" become substitute for "good guy" in this country anyway? People blurt **** out like HEY BUSH IS A BAD PRESIDENT! and then expect people to applaude and ******** them. **** you and entire "left", you're all just a bunch of whiny pundits who want to belong to a group.
you're all just a bunch of whiny pundits who want to belong to a group.
Unlike you, Larry...
There's nothing wrong with wanting to belong. It's one of the many constructive possibilities to take action.
Needing to belong is a whole different story, which to me is no different from needing to set yourself apart by not belonging to any group. And guess what... that's a group in itself.
Way to go man. Keep hating everyone.
E.

Larry, can you say anything without fifty percent of the content turning into little stars? You should try writing like all the rest of us one day: in a civilized manner.
Yup, that's right. A left-wing liberal just censored you. What would Michael Moore say?
RIP, thread.
