Here are 3 screenshots from a short that I just filmed. It's about a high school student who discovers a 1929 Model A Ford in the back of his garage and discovers the horrible truth behind its past and how it connects to his family - I'd elaborate, but I don't want to spoil the plot . The film is in post production right now, so I decided to export a few grabs. Here they are and enjoy!

Hey thanks for your comments!

TD - it was shot on a DVX100a. I used an 80A filter in most of the scenes (like in the second grab) to avoid having to add the blue look in post (which would have resulted in a lower quality image).

Ah . . . I wish I had one of those cameras . . .

Nice shots Trespasser! Can't wait to see them in motion.

Man, those filters really work well, I thought this thing was shot on film. The shots are pretty good. Have to check out your movie when you post!

Did you use an anamorphic adaptor, squeeze, letterbox, or none of the above?

Trust me, it's the time spent on lighting that made them turn out good. Good lighting=excellent image - and thank you for the compliment!

Lostinthedescent - I used squeeze mode instead of the letterbox so I wouldn't sacrifice the quality of the image. I'd like to get a 16:9 anamorphic adapter, but unfortunately for my camera they are VERY expensive ($600) Confused

Bruce - it's a little under 15 minutes, when I get it all edited, sent into film festivals and stuff, I'll definitely send it to studentfilms.com!

I thought squeeze mode did decrease the quality of the image although not as much as letterbox.

Did you resize the image of the video in an editing program to give it the black bars? Do you know how to do that in Premiere Pro 1.5?

I used FCP to import the footage and it automatically corrected the squeeze footage in the timeline. If you shoot in squeeze mode and Premiere Pro doesn't compensate for it, you should be able to adjust the aspect ratio manually somewhere. I've never used Premiere Pro, but in FCP you can manually do it by distorting the aspect ratio to -33.33 to correct the squeeze footage to the correct 1:1.78 widescreen (16:9) footage.
