alright, I have about 200-300 dollars to spend on lighting for a short I'm doing this summer. I want to put together the best "Home Depot Lighting Kit" possible. I need to light a fairly large area outdoors in the night and some smaller interior rooms. I was going to go with the whole blue gel approch for the outdoor shots, possibly shooting at dusk. So what kind of lights do ya'll think I should get.

P.S. check out apple's website...FCP 4 and DVD studio pro 2

wait, even better question, what does that have to do with lighting?

How was I supposed to know it was a guy in a suit?Besides, anyone willing to wear a Mickey Mouse suit deserves to get hit by a car...that and my brakes failed, kind of.

I know this may sound like a really amature idea, but I've used those hanging work lights to light a shot.. they work fine as long as you have a good many of them. (That's just for plain light though)

If you need to light a large spot outside, you might want to buy one of those dual halogen 1000w work lamps, with the stand, that Home epot sells. It would probablly be a bit hot for indoor stuff (you will need to diffuse the heck out of it) but would work well for outdoors, with some blue gels on there. If you get desperate, you could just use car headlights, with blue gels over em. Good luck.

I mentioned Final Cut Pro 4 because MagnusCaput mentioned it at the bottom of his topic. And my signature is old...I now have 400 dollars (still not a lot of money)

Well damn you, update your sig. Heh, I'm 18 and I have no money. I should get a job but I'm lazy.

Anyhow, to get back to lighting...I agree with Tizzy, get one of those 1000w work lights on a stand at Home Depot, it's around 40-50 bucks I believe. That's give you a lot of light for outdoor shooting, if you have power. So far all I've got is two tiny 500w work lights, workin' on making my own stand.
