I kid you not. It's free to join the site, and to watch most the movies there. Has FwB gained some, uhh...legitimacy? Maybe. Then again, it's on the same site with Vampire Vixens Unchained.

Yes, you're absolutely right, because as we all know, free publicity to potentially thousands of people is a terrible, terrible thing. Wha? If they want to package it however they want, send it out to anyone they want, and make it available however they want, should I really care? If this means more people will see it, then good.

I actually read the fine print, shook its hand, and then spit in its face (actually there is really is no "fine print," it's really more of a moderate nature). I still retain all the rights, and they get another movie for their website, where more people can potentially see it. If only *one* more person sees the movie then would have if it wasn't there, then it's a good deal to me.

But seriously, I'm not trying to belittle this site. It's a great place to communicate and learn, but it's not like I can place a 90 minute film here, because I can't. Maybe when my short film is complete, I'll think about it.

the difference between movieflix and studentfilms, is that ANYONE can post on movieflix...any kid with a camera, can put crap up on movieflix...
now, if you are actually PAYING for your movie to be put up, then that person is serious about their film, and they want to INVEST money to have more people see it. this makes films like studentfilms.com better because a kid with a camera isnt going to pay the money to have it hosted if he isnt serious about the film...

sure, there ARE hundreds of films on movieflix, but i can bet a LOT of money 95% of them suck...
BECAUSE anyone can put any crappy thing they call a movie up on that site...

you look at a site, like studentfilms, where you pay for you movie to be hosted on the internet..
GUESS WHAT, you ARE going to find more decent movies than a bunch of garbage (like you will find at that oh so awesome movieflix website)

sorry man, i don't feel like skimming on that website for hours just to watch a few decent movies, when i can type http://www.studentfilms.com and find twice as many, twice as fast...

you should look up the term INVESTMENT, because if you think $20 is a lot of money to have your movie hosted for a 30 min movie...then you have a LOT to learn about investments, and which ones are worth the extra money...

I don't know, I think a sign of commitment is having DVDs of your movie replicated (not duplicated) with full color printing on the disk and the outer wrap, in a amaray case.

That mean he probably ordered quantities of 500-1000. That's commitment enough, I think. So what if he wants to use a free service to distribute over the internet.

Thats actually sad to waste all that money...
Sure its a good investment, but not for a movie like that, but hey, if that person wants to waste their money, let them waste it...

its not like i am hating on the film for no reason, i stated my reasons in another post, and it seems that other people agree with me..

thats OUR opinion..

Having an opinion is when you said you didn't like the film, and here's why.

Telling the guy he wasn't committed to his film, he wasn't serious about his film, that he doesn't know what investment means, and then finally that his film isn't worth putting on dvd doesn't even come close to being helpful criticism or supporting a fellow student filmmaker. It appeared to be attacking him and his film. That's why I said wow. It had nothing to do with you not liking the film.

Actually, last time I checked, those are opinions too...

Here, I'll help you out..

OPINION o·pin·ion (n)
1. A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof: “The world is not run by thought, nor by imagination, but by opinion” (Elizabeth Drew).
2. A judgment based on special knowledge and given by an expert: a medical opinion.
3. A judgment or estimation of the merit of a person or thing: has a low opinion of braggarts.
4. The prevailing view: public opinion.
5. Law. A formal statement by a court or other adjudicative body of the legal reasons and principles for the conclusions of the court.

There ya go, also...you can also look up the following as well...
1)perspective
2)point of view

A wise man once said...
"Opinions are like ass holes, everyone's got one". Cool

Yeah, I'm done.

if you cant hook the audience, then maybe you
should re-think your story, or the way you open it.
the acting was sketch, and you could have worked on lighting...

looks like you just picked up a camera and followed people around...

im not going to bash you and then give no reason, like i said above...

work on ways to make your story better, and lighting...even the cheap solutions make all the difference in the world...

and DE-INTERLACE YOUR FOOTAGE MAN!
that is one of the biggest mistakes n00bs make...

anyways, if this was your first movie, then it wasn't that bad...

Last time I checked, that WAS constructive criticism...

To FURTHER prove my point, this is what YOU said...

Above, you just said...

So maybe instead of accusing people of doing, or in this case, NOT doing something... you should check your own posts, otherwise...a "punk high schooler" might just have to remind you of what YOU said...

Have a Great Day! Wink

Meh...Alright...
Since I feel like an ass for being so 'blunt', I guess I will apologize..
What I said, was rude, and discouraging for the filmmaker, and I shouldn't have said it.
Yeah, I get the point Joren was trying to make..
And he's right...
So here's my formal apology to waylayer, joren and even joshmcclain...
For being a 'punk high schooler'...
From now on, I will encourage people no matter what, and point out the good things they did..

So yeah, again...Sorry for the rudeness, cause it was uncalled for on my part...

Case closed.. Cool
