Ok folks. Just found out today that there was actually a site set up for the film (more like a page)(why just today? Out of sight out of mind I guess) anyway it is Redemption The Movie

It features the latest technology in website design (well, back in 1992 it was the latest maybe) and the worst looking screen grabs I have ever seen (I think someone took pictures of a monitor!!) but there is an assembly of clips on there. This was shown at the wrap party so it is pretty rough. I have been told an official tralier should be up in the next few days. I'll let you know.

Just go to the page and the trailer link is there. Oh, almost forgot... it is in the latest and greatest codec possible... Windows Media player (what the hell is going on down there??)

Hey Tizz. First off, hope all's going well on your Roanoke dissapearance based horror flick. Looking forward to hearing about some updates on the film as things get rolling for you.

Now, onto "Redemption"....

First, let me make it clear that this in no way a criticism of your work (as it shouldn't be...this isn't your film, right?). That being said: Redemption looks pretty awful. There's not much I can say positive about it. The cinematography is pretty amateurish, and the lighting reminiscent of an "Unsolved Mysteries" re-enactment. There's a very B air about it, (sorta like B grade porn, not that classy "skinemax" stuff...hehe) and it's not just due to the picture. Directing wise (from what I can gather, as I haven't seen the entire film), it looks like a mess. Again...right back to low budget re-enactment territory, from the performances, to the pacing, and as far as I'm made aware, the cinematography. No offense to the DP of the project, but this thing reeks of either a lack of genuine time and care, or talent. Or both. I can't comment on the editing, but if the film was cut by the same guy who cut the "trailer", it's in for some major issues.

From what I recall this film was directed by a television/film professor...but it doesn't show. The original "Intersection" mops the floor with this thing, in all its HD glory (which consequently, due to the DP, looks like a basic 3-chipper end product). Even the little snippets of fights/action looked terribly cheap. Like, as bad as some of stuff on this site (no offense to anyone here, we're all learning). Hits that swing at air, depth perception completely revealing the illusion of the stage hit, cheap cuts, the whole 9. I dunno Tizz, this is just...bad. Sorry. I'm not one to sugar coat things. This is just not what I'd expect from a man who TEACHES film and television to people. Then again, maybe it is.

Maybe I'll change my mind if/when I see the final product...maybe. But I have a firm belief: a half decent editor can turn any p.o.s. film into a decent trailer, and get viewer's intrigued. Turd polishing is notorious in the movie business. But when you can't even salvage a competent, engaging trailer...I dunno. Bad mojo. Anyway, that's it for me. I don't mean to rag on your mentor's film...but honesty is the best policy. And maybe with Into the Woods, you can outdo your teacher's HD product on a 3chip DVX100. Actually, if you don't, I'd be surprised.

P.S. The website alone seems to speak of the general "air" around this film: downright lack of care. A shame...bad waste of a good cam.

Brian:
Thank you for saying what I could not in fear might hurt some feelings. I will have more in depth thoughts later but have to agree with your assesment thus far.

For now I will simply say what I know for clarification. This is not actually a trailer but a series of clips from Dalies assembled during production and shown at the wrap party. Down converted, no color correction and NOT edited by the movies editor (the movies editor is the one who did the original trailer, as well as color correction if you remember that one) There is supposed to be a real trailer up soon. How will it look? No idea. As I said, more thoughts later when I have time.

I'm still not convinced the original "Intersection" actually exists *cough*. I would like to be proven wrong *double cough*. Didn't Hoeks or someone have a copy that they were going to send in to the site? *triple cough*

As far as Redemption, I can see the B-grade perspective (I still think the title doesn't help). I actually think your screen presence is pretty good though Tizz. Also, I still think the 'Intersection' portions look to be the most interesting.

Aesthetically, the original trailer was much nicer (Were some of those shots cut into this new trailer?). I'm sure the final product will be far tighter. Any discussion of distribution yet?

Thanks for the optomisim Rob (your more optomistic then I LOL) It's funny because it had to get "selected" this year (no guaranted slots) supposedly the they watched it, selected it, and then only wanted to talk about my performance (Might just be smoke up my postierier but it feels pretty good LOL) So Im trying to get down there (It will be projected in HD as well)

As for distribution I still dont know. No one has given me a definitive answer. Hey im Guaranteed a SAG card as soon as some money is made (has to be officially a "paying" SAG shoot) Not sure what I'll do with it. Would be funny if I was a writer/director who acted, "Just to pay the bills" though.

This doesnt have really anything to do with "Redemption" but....SAG cards get pretty usefull around january tizz...because of the SAG awards, your sag card acts as a free pass to any movie that has been nominated! Show it too the manager of your local theatre and its free to watch any (or every!) movie thats up for nomination! Now how cool is that! Unfortunatly, Im not sure if your aware but there is a hefty fee that you must pay before entering SAG. Anyways, the conclusion is that SAG cards are very useful in january...
