Hello everyone, I just found this forum and am trying to watch as much as possible; I've been in a sort of bubble of student filmmakers I know, and haven't seen much outside work, so this is great. This site, http://www.geocities.com/ceggos, is mostly for my films, which vary from serious to ridiculous, but I'm starting to post others' films on it. I also update frequently with interesting online films I've found, as well as examples of cool films I've seen in other places, i.e. on TV. If anyone wants to join up, I'd be happy to find more server space and post others' work.

The film on the main page right now was made in one night, so don't go judging my editing skills based on that; in fact, there are a range of different types of films, from experimental to documentary to comedy, so browse a little, or watch a few, since they're mostly under 3 minutes.

well lets see....i dont know if ur statement "best films on the net" really lives up to its potential. Maybe if you said "some good films on the net" then ur statement would be substantiated because i thought the were good "films". I liked how u edited to the music, i think that always looks good. Now i would like to ask...does any 1 know a site where i can watch "Movies" made by students that have actual plots and a story line?

the title "Best films of the web" was chosen with just a trace of irony.
As to real plots, two of my more traditional plot-oriented films have excerpts on the site; unfortunately for you, no "plot" is included in the excerpts. I think in general student films that are geared toward story and character development in a traditional sense tend to come off poorly (though there are some exceptions) because of budget constraints- almost nobody can afford or find real actors, or many of them. And as we can see from the work of Errol Morris, Godfrey Reggio, Michael Moore (debatable), etc. plot isn't everything even in big-name film. This is probably why you're not seeing as much character/storyline driven "Movies" by students. There are quite a few shorts on this site, though, that meet those criteria. Try "Heist" by Alejandro Lalinde, for example.

I was talking about Connection In Russian, but many of the films on my site were made in 24 hours, including "Do People Like Tide?", "Broadcast" (though it was tweaked for a few months before the version you see now), and "You Can Do It". The section of "Flush" you see was also done in a night, because we were supposed to show it at a public screening the next day-I didn't sleep that night, lol. Besides Flush, though, the others weren't for contests, I just tend to get into a project and work nonstop until it's done. Since most of these are shorts, that takes about a day. Then I usually collapse in a heap. I'd love to see your film if possible, that you filmed in 24 hrs. I like the immediacy and the energy of fast filmmaking.
