Here's some Zomp Film News:

1. Opportunity to have your film played on a Dutch festival
2. Change of policy: I will take "the old Imac" offline, so if you want to keep your film on Zomp Film, please resubmit (you'll have to take care of the hosting yourself).

HAVE YOUR FILM PLAYED ON A DUTCH FESTIVAL!

Recently someone from the Dutch festival "De Opkomst" came up to me and said he really enjoyed the Zomp Film website, and asked me if I could arrange some hi-resolution copies of the films on the website. He wanted to play them on a big screen during the 4-day festival, which will take place at the end of next month.

So, here's your chance to have your movie played overseas! If you want to have your movie played on the festival, send a DVD or CD-ROM or PAL-videotape to:

Zomp Film
Gerben Schmidt
Oudenoord 517
3513 EP Utrecht
THE NETHERLANDS

I need to have all Films by the 7th of November. I'm planning to have some films played on other festivals in the future as well, so once I have your tape, I'll do everything to promote your work.

CHANGE OF POLICY ON ZOMP FILM: ALL HOSTED FILMS WILL BE TAKEN OFFLINE, FILMS THAT YOU HOST YOURSELF, WILL STAY ON THE SITE. PLEASE RESUBMIT.

As you might have noticed I stopped hosting movies on my old imac. It was too slow, and because of the many downloads, my own internet-speed went down to nearly nothing. This week I will take my old Imac offline, so if you want to keep your film on Zomp Film, follow these steps:

1. Find a place where you can host your film (there's loads of free space on the net, e.g. tripod.lycos.com)

2. resubmit your film on the Zomp Film website (http://film.zomp.nl) and provide a full URL to the place where your film resides

I've created a whole new submission-system, which allows you to afterwards change the information you initially entered.

I'm sorry for having to make this decision, but I know it's for the best: your films will load much quicker, and I have my internet-connection back.

Don't forget to do this asap. By the end of this week I will take my webserver offline. And yeah, please send me your films for the festival.

Gerben, Zomp Film.

One mistake in the above story: if you want to have your film played on the Dutch festival, please send your film on mini-DV

I realised that that would be the easiest for me, and I'm not sure if I can play DVD's with the American region-code.

Hi Perry!

Yeah, I'm trying to "professionalize" the whole site a bit. And it seems hosting films for filmmakers wasn't such a good idea after all. I think from now on the site will be much more enjoyable, because download-speeds will be much higher!

About your film: which one are you going to submit? Hi-res PAL Quicktime on a CD would be just fine! That is, if you succeed in squeezing the whole film onto one CD Smile

I;m looking forward to your submission!

Gerben.

well... i think the Dueling the Fates (invisible sword fight) which I had before is a little two short and insubstantial. If you don't think so I would be happy to submit it. Depending on wether or not I get something else done in time I could submit it, understanding of course, that you may or may not accept it.

also, would a two minute trailer be ok?

cheers!

O, but I really loved Dueling the fates! To me, this movie is a great example of what a short movie should be. I showed it to many other peple, and they all enjoyed it a lot! It's already a "Zomp Film Classic"! Please send that one!

Well, in that case I guess the "Redemption" trailer is dead in the water.

Although somebodys starting to get off their ass down south and claims they are sending it in to Scope so we will see. Hopefully a high res version will be up soon.
