I'm new to this site and am not quite familiar with everything yet, so help me out if you can. I've been getting a considerable amount of spam since I joined this site and was wondering if there is a way to remove or hide my email address? If not, is there a way you, Chris, could add an anti-spam feature or something? Thanks!

Yes you can see the topics that you subscribed too. Go to "Go" in a topic menu at the top and click on Myspace, then go down to notifications and you can take off the ones that you don't want to be notified for.

Ryan, I don't think you quite understood the question. We're talking about spam from spammers who might be harvesting the email addresses from people's profiles. Though, I'm not sure how feasible that is for them. Smile

Dischordia, you should go to the 'Go' menu, choose 'My Space > Profile' then click 'Edit complete profile' and scroll down until you find the 'Display Email' - make that blank.

Yeeap, that's blank. So, perhaps I put it in a post or review or something. Thanks for the responses!

Yeah, I don't see your email in your profile, so that's not where they're getting it.

It might be from the main site. I'll look into putting an e-mail address blocker up in the future.

Do you have your e-mail listed in your profile in the main site or on reviews? I hate e-mail address spiders.

While we're on the subject of email addresses on the main site...

I, thinking I was being clever, listed my email address on banana road as http://www.perrykroll.com/contact.php

That's a web page with an email form, so spam bots won't get my email address. The result was that it's listed in the site as an email link nonetheless, making it impossible for anyone to contact me at all. So my question is, is the email link automatically generated? Or can you turn that into a normal URL link somehow? Smile

Well there is a way that you can hide e-mail addresses when they're displayed so that they're hidden from bots.

I'll need to add that to the code that generates the e-mails in the profiles in the reviews.

I'll add that to my programmers massive "to do" list.
