In a discussion with BIGMOVIE, we both realized that something needs to be done about the rating system.

I don't know if anyone else has picked up on this, but i'm getting agravated with all of the fabricated reviews. It's obvious with some films that friends and family members are rating films 5/5 just to boost ratings up. Not to mention, I don't doubt that some people even leave more than one review, using different names. It's not fair to falsely critique films, good or bad.

Does anyone else feel this way?

its a tricky issue. we don't want to scare away people who SHOULD be reviewing but are not members of the site by making a registration mandatory. checking email addresses (an auto confirm thing) could help.

its not a big deal, at least your film is being seen, a review (good or bad) will not effect anyone in anyway. just as long as some honest people leave feedback of your strength and weakness's.

I agree, it is good that film is getting seen, but I'm sure those who actually work hard to get a great rating on their film don't appreciate it when mediocore movies get boosted ratings because of fake reviews. Maybe just a pet peeve of mine on the site...

I don't think it's necessarily family and friends giving a film a 5/5 to boost the rating. A lot of the time family and friends are closely related to the filmmaking process, and they see how much work really goes into filmmaking. I think most family and friends that review that way are somewhat honest. But I can see your point, and I have to agree it can be frustrating when mediocre films that took little to no though/effort get good ratings.

Part of the problem with the review system is that people who watch the films don't review the films. I, personally, would like to know how many times my movie has been watched, despite the fact that only four people have reviewed it. Is there any way to get that changed?
