That film would be nuts to make. 2000 bucks if you already have props and wardrobe will make for some impressive filmmaking. It's the perfect war book to adapt into film, its concise, descriptive and very powerful. I cast my vote for high shutter speeds! Best of luck!

I don't consider Heller a war writer. He happened to write a brilliant book about war. Anyway, Catch-22 is my favorite book ever.
