Two things.

One - Baloo, good idea, but i think it kind of falls into the preproduction forum, which already gets a relatively low amount of posts. Maybe a better idea would be to rename the forum or its description to make it clearer that it encompasses that area in particular.

Two - I think its time to lay down some clear ground rules for this forum. When i joined here just one year ago, we had an "incident" maybe once every month or two. For the most part the forums have been kept very clean and have served as a great resource to its users and new visitors alike.

Unfortunately, as this site has apparently gained in popularity, this forum has gained many new users. That is a very good thing, but without clarification of what this board is for we have seen a lot more pointless and/or flaming topics/replies. This can be avoided. Here's my suggestions:

1 - Lay out some forum guidelines on the main page. Explain the purpose of the board as it stands now.
2 - pull on a few more mods. I'd nominate myself but I don't like the stigma attached nor do i have the time Smile
3 - add an off topic forum. This would serve two purposes - give a place for random posts other than the general forum, and also give a place for mods to move such topics instead of just deleting them.

What do you guys think? Chris?

I like the off topic idea. Not all of us have access to the chat lounge so a "Chat Forum" would be kinda nice, where we could talk about everyday things not related to film.

Jeff,

Thanks for your suggestions.

We do have site rules - they're buried in the Site Announcements but we need to make them more visible.

We could probably use more mods as well.

An off topic forum is a good suggestion.

screenwriting isnt always a part of pre-production though. i dont know, its kinda shady i guess. but i guess it makes sense if no one is posting much in that area already.

So any way I was walking down the street and I saw this guy I know, well not personally, but I knew him in passing, and we started talking and never really got any where so I said, "hey look, there's a dead rock over there!" and he whipped around expecting something bad and I walked away . . .

Yeah, an off topic forum would be good. Smile
