I got a letter back from Emerson and I was put on the waiting list and I was wondering if anyone knows exactly what that means. Like do I have a good chance of getting in or does it mean that it could go either way or what?
Thanks
David

it means that you haven't been rejected...(yet) but that you also haven't been accepted...(yet). Whether or not you have a good chance of getting in depends on how many of their accepted applicants choose not to go there. Like you said, it could go either way.

aahhh, another wait-listed from emerson. welcome to the club Roll Eyes

haha, im seriously not gonna let this up.

Oh, and to answer some of ur questions. i called up to find out what waitlisted was all about. aparently, 1000 or so of these waitlisted letters went out this year. they expect somewhere around 300-500, more or less, to come back. some years they pick 0 people. some years they pick like 100. im gonna call up every week with something new, like a good grade or anything. it was those damn SATs! i mean, c'mon, is 1120 really that bad?

HAHAHA! Big Grin I hope you get in too. I really do, it must suck so much to be waitlisted. Just the impossibility of knowing if you'll end up getting in or not.

i apprechiate it guys. trust me, i want me to get in as well. i dont know how im gonna make myself stand out over 500 other people. apparently, they dont like my sat scores, and my gpa is a 3.4 (not a 3.6).

does anyone have any suggestions to help my odds? i thought about getting my physics teacher to write a letter of recomendation, then say that i would bring my varsity captain of the xc team talents to the emerson team, but i doubt theyd care bout taht. any ideas?

How much practice did you do for the SATs? Any chance of re-taking them and scoring significantly higher? Or is there even time?

i took the sats twice. one time i took the princeton review to get 1100. then i studied my ass off to only get 20 points higher. lets look at it this way, im happy i got 1120. i am terrible at taking tests with such magnatude. im so prone to, for the lack of a better term, panic. lets just say this, i did really awful on the PSATs, so i think 1120 is where hte bar ends.

plus they have the new test, which i dont think schools factor that in until next year.
