Hi, I'm a second-year (I'm 3 credits or so above the requirement for a junior, but that's just because of a couple AP exams) film production student at Webster University in St. Louis.

I just found out that, because I've already transfered once from SIU Carbondale, and because I got some terrible advising when I did, It's going to take me at least another 3 years to graduate here. I can handle that much more school, but I don't know about spending it in St. Louis, a city I'm no big fan of.

I'd really like to move to San Francisco, Portland, OR, or Vancouver. New York, Toronto or Chicago could definitely work as well.

My question is, basically, what are my options? Are there schools in these cities where
A) I could get in (my transcripts aren't great, pretty much a B average with no extracurricular type things in both high school and college),
B) I could finish in the same amount of time or less as in St. Louis,
C) Incorporates celluloid in the curriculum as much or more than Webster (which is a great deal) as opposed to DV and,
D) Would give me a proper bachelor's degree or a true equivalent.

Obviously, I'm not expecting anyone to have an encyclopedic knowledge of all of this, and everyone's situation is different, I'm just rather confused by searching around the internet and was wondering what kind of suggestions I might get by posting on here.

Thanks much.

My advice is to just suck it up and get your Webster degree first. I think right now you're just harried and overwhelmed by all this college chaos, and you need to settle down and take some time to adjust to St. Louis, because you must have transferred there for some good reason. The more and more you transfer, the less and less chance you have of getting a degree anywhere...college selection is not like a buffet, you have to pick one and stick with it. And while you get your Webster degree, I recommend kicking up your grades a little, and finding extracurricular stuff to do (maybe even a job or work-study, who knows), so you can really apply yourself and divert your restless energy into making the best of it where you are, and hopefully making some good films in the process. Then, when you graduate, you can look into going anywhere you desire for grad school, with all the knowledge, credentials, creative skills, and experience you need. Hell, if you find a good job before then, maybe you can even pay for it yourself!
