I want to know which of these schools are more the independent type of movies and which are in the Hollywood style type. Here's the schools I'm interested in...just put indie or Hollywood next to the name. It's okay if you don't know some...just leave it blank then. Thanks.

Chapman University
UCLA
USC
Boston University
Emerson College
Loyola Marymount University
San Diego State University
University of Texas at Austin
Columbia College Chicago
School of the Visual Arts
Hofstra University
University of Miami

Go here or get the latest copy of this book. It talks about most of the schools you have listed Master's programs. In depth explanations on gear, the program, the cost breakdown, what's good about and what sucks.... for the "new" student searching for a 3-5 year home.

Basically if you dont put like FSU USC NYU Columbia or Chapman in your posts on here, you frankly won't get much usable information.

Not a dig just my experience. Additionally, I got a much warmer response to my posts for undergraduate information on the graduate forum.

Good luck bro/sis.
I'm rooting for ya.

GSG....It's not that you need that heading, it's that the school boards slow down after acceptance season...regarding the thread you started, I double majored in AV Comm and Advertising/Journalism with double minors in Graphic Design and Marketing, for what it's worth. If you are certain you want to go to film for an MFA, a BFA in film is usually redundant.

(happy now? ;-) )

Lins....FSC is the best start for the indie-Hollywood debate, but be sure not to treat it like a bible.

To Gregory, I realize I won't get information about Hofstra on here since people probably never heard of it outside of NY. But I do know that schools such as Emerson are well known on here. Never hurts to ask...

I'll look into that book. For some reason, I see that book mentioned a lot on film forums. Maybe I should get it. Thanks for the link.
