has anyone heard any positive or negative things about los angeles city college, from what i have read it seems like a really hands on school at a very cheap price.

I don't know anything about the school specifically, but the state is in a bit of a budget crisis, and it looks as if education is about to take a major slash (Particularly if these muppets succeed in removing Davis from office). The state is most reluctant to reduce funding to the UC system and to a lesser extent the Cal State system which means the community colleges are going to take the brunt of the cuts. I believed they jacked tuition up a bit this semester, but it still should be remarkably cheap for California residents.

Yes, the budget has been increased but is still nowhere close to the amount you would pay going to a state college or UC. The amount used to be $11 dollars a unit. Now I beleive it to be now around $18. STILL it's the cheapest film school there is. I've heard many many times that LACC in fact has more students who become working directors than any other film school in the states. If that doesn't say something well than I don't know what. Here's a link to their cinema department with all kinds of info about their program.
Yeah its a very good school. I go to PCC. Im not in the film classes anymore cause i just wanna transfer but i hear good stuff about lacc. It's kinda like the next school you would go to if you wish to stay at a city college with a film school.

The Hughes Brothers ("Menace II Society," "Dead Presidents," "From Hell") went to LACC - what they learned at LACC and the shorts they made helped them get started.
