So the topic speaks for itself. Every school has negative aspects about it, what are Emersons? Not just in film, but in general...

Are there enough film majors to work with to make crews?

is the school too political?

are there half-way decent parties (on campus / near campus) ?

I have heard there are many homosexuals @ Emerson. Does that make it difficult to make straight male friends?

I'm a freshman at Emerson, so I'll try to answer some of your questions.

Emerson is very liberal and if you are conservative, you will probably feel a little out of place, but that isn't too say the school won't work for you, you just may find that your view point isn't as easily accepted because it's a very liberal school.

There are also a lot of gay guys at Emerson it's cool, not nearly as many as people make it out to be. One of my best friends here is gay, the others are not. It's very easy to make straight friends if that's what you want, so that shouldn't be a turn off for the school, but if you are a bit homophobic you might have a problem.

In terms of parties, there aren't many on campus, because there isn't really a campus. There are lots of frat parties in the surrounding areas like Allston and it's very easy to make friends from other schools or upperclassmen who have apts. Emerson isn't a big party school though, but it's not a dry campus either. If you're into partying every night, Emerson doesn't exactly have that, but on the weekends there's plenty of stuff going on. It's also a very weed friendly school, but that can also be avoided if you're not into that.
