I would like to know what the Savannah College of Art and Design film program is like. I've already appplied there and I'm excited to go there soon in the Spring. Are film projects paid by the school? Is there a some freedom in terms of what you can do for your film projects? Off topic, what are the dorms like? Is there lots do besides schoolwork in Savannah?

Why don't you call the admissions department...
They are the ones you need to talk to about this stuff.
Cool

I go to SCAD and I am a film major. As far as I know you have to pay for your own film stock. As far as creative freedom is concerned you can almost do anything. The teachers are very laid back here, and dont mind if you use some "curse" words every now and then haha, so you dont have to make your films something you would see on PBS. There's a lot of good places to shoot in Savannah, and yes there's a lot to do. Malls, movie theaters, good restaurant, trolley tours, parties, bars, river street is cool, but I dont know what the dorms are like I love in an apartment, sorry. Theres also short films being shot all the time where you can help out as a crew member or actor, so its cool. I hope this helps, if you have any other questions please e-mail me at Sharpshooterr@aol.com. Later

I'm currently a grad student in the film program at Scad and I have loved it here. The professors come from the industry so they always have good stuff to share with the students. The equipment is up-to-date but they've had a few issues this quarter with too many students and too few cameras. If you choose to shoot on film they have a lab next door that gives you huge discounts on processing and telecine. If you're into DV like me they have everything from the Gl1 to the Panisonic dvc-pro 50's, Sony Cinelta HD cam, and Panisonic Vari-Cam HD. Its cool here, you'll love it.
