I am planning on taking an indepenent study through my local community study. Basicly the skies are the limits when it comes to what i could accomplish. Im curious if you guys would have any suggestions on what i should do.

This is what I have thus far:

Objectives:
• To better understand the different elements that come in to play during a video production. This includes lighting, sound, shot variation to tell a story, etc.
• To communicate a concept and feeling through a film and well-written script.
• Better understand how the different stages of a production influence the look and feel of a film.
• To use a variety of different types software (final cut pro, motion 2, soundtrack, adobe AE, DVD studio pro, adobe CS2, etc.)

Equipment:
• Canon XL-1
• Canopus digital/analogue converter
• Audio equipment (a variety mics, cables, etc.)
• Lighting equipment (studio lighting, light kits etc.)
• Camera switcher

I am curious if I should include anything else. What are realistic projects that you would reccomend? Be creative; I really need your feedback. Thanks guys!!!

I did an indie study on the production program at my school and how it could be improved. Plenty of other schools to compare to, students to interview, footage on campus that can be shot, professors you can talk to/interview. It helps future students and actually covers all the bases of what you are learning or trying to learn at school about your major. You learn to spit out what the school has taught you and what you didn't learn but should have about all aspects of your major. It really helps overall when you are a senior and you need to see what you have accomplished. Personally, I put together an hour long video of interviews, graphics and video that documented the program and such. It helps you analyse more than anything else, like a reporter. So many avenues and it helps you as a writer, photographer, videographer, director, producer and editor ... overall artist.

Hope this helps when looking at you really want to accomplish in your study.
