I'll start this like all the others; Hi! I'm new here and need help choosing a film school.
Anyways, my plan changes from day to day(but studying film production is always the constant). After reading some of the posts on here I thought up of another plan. Figured I share it and see what ya'll thought.
I know location is big but I need to save money so I figure I can go to UofM and get my bachelors (depending on how their program looks after I tour it.. any heads up?) and do internships in Cali during the summers. Then move out to CA and get my masters out there and get some connections. Right now it sounds like a good idea but I'll wait to hear what you all say.

I figured it would work because I'd get four years instate ed. and time at a big university where I can change majors if need be (doubt it). Anyone know anything of UofM's film program. It seems to be not to shabby.
I've heard arguments for both sides of this but it seems to me that if you get a good Lib Arts education and then do hell of alot of internships and small production jobs then you can learn all your production stuff by doing and have the Lib Arts stuff for something to stand on and reference when needed.
I have been told that I should go to the west coast right away and start making connections. I have also been told that you don't necessarily need to go to Cali right away. I know someone who went to BU and knew no one when she moved to LA. She worked lots of small production stuff and did internships and sent her resume to every studio out there and now she's got a good job on a tv show. So there are success both ways. My idea with my plan is it's kind of a mix of everything. Anyone think it will work, or tried it?
